Liverpool target Ivan Rakitic is “proud” to have been linked with a variety of Italian clubs and will make a decision on his future at the end of the season.
The Croatian midfielder has been impressive this season for Sevilla and has attracted the attention several clubs, including Real Madrid, Liverpool, Juventus, Napoli and Inter Milan. Rakitic has made 47 appearances in all competitions for Sevilla this season, scoring 15 goals and assisting a further 18, which has not gone unnoticed around Europe. Liverpool have been linked with a move for Rakitic in recent months, while Premier League rivals Manchester United have also been thought to hold an interest in the 26-year-old, who has a year left to run on his current deal. Napoli are also willing to make a move for the player and see the midfielder as a potential replacement for Marek Hamsik, who the Serie A club could be set to allow to leave at the end of the season for a reported 35 million. In comments relayed by Sportmediaset Rakitic said he is proud to be linked with the Serie A clubs and will decide his future at the end of the season.
He said: “I love Sevilla and am linked to the club by a contract, but they sure are proud that my name is matched with important clubs in Italy and elsewhere. But now I want to think only of the final season, then we’ll see what happens. ”
