Hellas Verona remain in the hunt for a Europa League place thanks in a large part to forward Juan Iturbe who is being targeted by Liverpool.
The Argentine forward is currently on loan at Italian side Hellas Verona and has been inspirational to his team this season, notching six goals and setting up five more. Verona ran out 4-0 winners at the weekend and while Iturbe did not add to his tally he received plenty of praise for his performance.
Teammate Angelo Agostini highlighted the “extraordinary individuality” that someone like Iturbe brings to the team, according to a report on TMW. On Iturbe, the defender said: “It becomes unstoppable if on the day, when you find yourself in front of him the only thing is to make the sign of the cross. ” The win over Catania means Verona can still qualify for the Europa League next season although they are battling the likes of Fiorentina, Inter Milan, Lazio and Torino.
The club hope to buy 20-year-old Iturbe in the summer from Porto where he is spending the season on loan from.
The Argentine has also been targeted by Liverpool and Verona hope to take up an option to buy the forward for a reduced fee before immediately selling on for a profit.
