After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked by the board at Manchester United, he was replaced by the current interim boss Ralf Rangnick. The German manager is set to leave his current at Old Trafford at the end of the season. After the result at 4-1 against local rivals Manchester City, fans are looking for certainty and to be able to challenge at the highest level.

Here are the main managers that have a chance of being the next Manchester United manager:

Mauricio Pochettino

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager is the current favourite to take over in the summer especially after the result against Real Madrid and how they were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League. The owners of the Paris club have the competition as number 1 priority and therefore they expect to replace him regardless if Manchester United try to prize him away from the club.

Carlo Ancelloti

Whilst many fans won’t be pleased if the former manager of Chelsea and more recently Everton arrives at the club, he definitely has a chance of arriving at the club. He won’t be top target but if he becomes the only one available then he potentially could get the Old Trafford job.

Ralf Rangnick

Unless the current manager dramatically changes the current form of the team and wins some silverware this season then the chances of him staying are low. However, he still has a chance if things change between now and the summer.

Diego Simeone

Another seasoned La Liga manager, Diego Simeone has a chance of getting the number 1 position at the club. Manchester United fans would love the chance for this to happen, The former Argentina international has spent over 10 years at Atletico Madrid and turned them into a formidable outfit. In charge,  he’s won La Liga twice, in 2013/14 and 2020/21, the Copa del Rey, the Supercopa de Espana, two Europa Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups and came runner up in the Champions League twice too.

Manchester United are desperate to return to winning ways and get back into a rhythm of winning trophies and challenging at the highest level. The team want to win the FA Cup, Champions League and English Premier League again after such a long period without winning. Watching the closest rivals, Liverpool FC and Manchester City winning every year is something hard to deal with.

Action is required from the Manchester United board soon, what are your thoughts on this and who would you want to replace the team if you are a fan?
