Arsenal and Manchester United are keeping tabs on the progress of young Udinese star Simone Scuffet, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The 17-year-old goalkeeper has broken into the first-team for Udinese this season, and already looks like living up to talk that has seen him compared with Juventus and Italy legend Gianluigi Buffon. Reports suggest that Serie A giants Juventus and Roma are already keen to snap him up in the near future, though Arsenal and United could be ready to tempt Scuffet into moving to the Premier League. Arsenal are seemingly in the hunt for a new goalkeeper to challenge for Wojciech Szczesny, who has been somewhat inconsistent this season, while backup shot-stopper Lukasz Fabianski is also set to leave the Emirates Stadium on a free transfer at the end of this campaign. United also face some uncertainty about the goalkeeping position next season, with Anders Lindegaard unhappy at being behind David de Gea in the pecking order, while the number one is also a rumoured target for Real Madrid.
Having been handed an opportunity by Udinese this season, a European football insider believes Scuffet will not be looking to move just yet as he hopes to continue playing regularly, though he confirmed that Arsenal and United are watching the youngster.
