Wigan Athletic can go some way to getting revenge over Arsenal in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final after they were relegated at the Emirates Stadium last season. Wigan lost 4-1 to Arsenal in north London last season, days after winning the FA Cup against Manchester City, to confirm their relegation to the Championship from the Premier League with one game remaining. Lukas Podolski, Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey scored for the Gunners that night while Shaun Maloney had given the Latics feint hope with a 45th minute equaliser. Podolski and Ramsey could feature for Arsene Wenger’s side at Wembley, while Walcott has been ruled out for the remainder of the season and there is talk that winning this season’s FA Cup, which would bring an end to a nine-year trophy drought, is more important that beating Everton to fourth in the Premier League. If Uwe Rosler’s side can pull off another FA Cup upset at Wembley, Wigan would ensure that Arsenal’s run without a trophy would enter a 10th year – a decade without winning a major honour.
