Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was watching the managerial situation at Paris Saint-Germain before committing to a new Arsenal deal.
The Frenchman has been delaying signing a new contract at the Emirates for some time, despite his current deal expiring in the summer. And Tuttomercatoweb. com report that this is because the 64-year-old had his eyes on the PSG hot-seat. However, PSG boss Laurent Blanc signed a new deal with club earlier today curtailing Wenger’s chances at a chance of a move back to his native country.
PSG had long courted Wenger upon being brought by Qatari Investment Authority which has since ploughed millions of pounds into the club. But it seems Blanc has clung on to his position for now after securing the Ligue 1 title for a second consecutive season, although another Champions League exit before the semi-finals next season is unlikely to save him.
This is perhaps the main blot on Wenger’s record as PSG have made it abundantly clear they chase European glory above any other – something Wenger has only come close to achieving on one occasion.
