Luca Toni thinks Borussia Dortmund’s 15m signing of Serie A top goalscorer Ciro Immobile is a match made in heaven. Immobile will sign a five-year deal that is worth 1.5m a year after Torino and Juventus, who co-owned the player, accepted the offer – with both sides set to share the money. Immobile will replace Robert Lewandowski and is seen as more than capable of filling the departing player’s boots after scoring 22 goals in 29 Serie A starts last term, pushing him to the top of the scoring charts while further boosting his stellar reputation. Toni spent three years in Germany with Bayern Munich and believes Immobile, who had been tracked by Chelsea, will be a major success. “Ciro is one of the best young players in Italy,” he told Bild. “I think he’ll suit the Bundesliga perfectly.”Barcelona had been monitoring the player and were reportedly considering making an offer but any attempt now looks dead in the water with the deal all but complete.
