Manchester United are ready to move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan after Barcelona were handed a Fifa ban on transfers. The German international has struggled for fitness this season in the Bundesliga but his talents have still seen him gain interest from the likes of Premier League side Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona. And the latter visited Dortmund last month to put the midfielder through a medical ahead of a summer move. However, following Barcelona’s ban on future transfers for the next two transfer windows, a move to the Nou Camp is now ruled out, leaving Man United to make a move. The 23-year-old is seen as the perfect man to replace Paul Scholes at United and with David Moyes looking to rebuild his squad, a summer bid now looking extremely likely. Gundogan has made 83 appearances for Dortmund in three seasons and also represented the German national side on eight occasions.
