Manchester United will have to fight off Napoli and Inter Milan if they are to sign Barcelona misfit Alex Song.
The midfielder has been told he can leave the club in the summer for a fee of 12m, prompting interest from an array of clubs across Europe. United boss David Moyes will have to wait and see if Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants the player back at the Emirates with the Londoners having first refusal on the Cameroon international. Song left Arsenal in 2012 for Barcelona but he has failed to establish himself at the Nou Camp, making just nine La Liga starts. Rafael Benitez is a known admirer of the player and will look to step up his efforts to sign the player when the season finishes – with him hoping to be able to offer Champions League football to the star, which United will not as it stands. Inter Milan, meanwhile, will plough ahead with their much publicised recruitment drive of players that will take them back among the eilte.

Moyes’ only hope is the fact the player has stated he prefers a move back to England than anywhere else. Watch Arsenal v Man City Saturday or Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspurs Sunday.
