Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville believes European Cup holders Bayern Munich have lost their edge and are in danger of becoming a “one-trick pony”.
The Bavarian giants bossed possession in last night’s Champions League semi-final, first leg clash with Real Madrid but still left the Bernabeu on the back of a 1-0 defeat, having struggled to carve out opportunities. Neville thinks Pep Guardiola’s side could still progress to the final but must rediscover their cutting edge if they are to see off the La Liga heavyweights at the Allianz Arena next week.
He said on Twitter: “BM have become possession without purpose. Last season strengths- Counter attack/direct when necessary/ crosses /men in the box all lost at present. “They have to get that balance right and back for next week. Win with 80% and your a genius – lose and 80% is meaningless. Poetic!!“May seem harsh but if the imbalance continues then what is a great team can become a one-trick pony.

Early warning signs are there. “However they still could go through next week. Have a great manager and team and have just lost their incision. ”
