Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has criticised Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola. The ex-Denmark international, who was part of the famous treble-winning Red Devils side of 1999 and won a host of trophies during his time at Old Trafford, hinted that the Bavarian giants have regressed under the Spaniard. Guardiola has already guided them to the Bundesliga title this season but saw his side lose 1-0 in tonight’s Champions League semi-final, first leg clash with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Last term his predecessor Jupp Heynckes led Bayern to both domestic honours and the European Cup before retiring. Schmeichel said on Twitter: “I prefer Jupp Heynckes Bayern Mnchen..#ChampionsLeague.”Guardiola has been linked with the vacant managerial position at United following the sacking of David Moyes, who was dismissed only nine months into a six-year contract. However, the Bayern boss has made no secret of his desire to remain at the Allianz Arena for at least another two campaigns.
