Manchester United are falling behind Real Madrid in the race for Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos whose agent has held talks with Real Madrid. The 24-year-old’s negotiations have stalled with the Bundesliga club refusing to meet his 10m a year wage demands – a 6m pay rise from what he currently earns. Kroos’ representatives have told Real he would be interested in joining the Spanish giants in the summer or even at the end of next season when his contract expires. United were readying a 40m bid in the summer for the midfield schemer but the sacking of David Moyes has created uncertainty at the club – with Madrid now confident of getting their man after the discussions, [football] direct news understands.
