Manchester United are considering offering midfielder Anderson to Atletico Madrid in a bid to land Spanish star Koke, [football direct] news understands.

The Red Devils are intent on making up for last season’s disappointing seventh place finish by signing a number of stars to help them reach the heights that the club has been accustomed to.

One of the main areas of the side which has been highlighted for improvement is the central midfield department.

Marouane Fellaini was signed in a big money deal from Everton last year in hope of bringing steel to the midfield but the Belgian has struggled to acclimate to the side.

United’s main target is now Atletico and Spain star Koke and the club are now thinking about offering Brazilian midfielder Anderson in a player-plus-cash exchange deal, FDN sources claim.

Having been on loan to Fiorentina, Anderson will not be retained by La Viola as the Tuscan side were not convinced by the performance of the Brazilian.

Anderson’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has close links with Atletico and will do everything in his power to take his client to the La Liga winners.
