Stoke City could make a loan offer for Arsenal youngster Joel Campbell this summer, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The 21-year-old has been out on loan three times already since joining Arsenal back in 2011, spending time with Lorient, Real Betis and Olympiacos as he seeks to become eligible for a work permit to play in the Premier League.
The Costa Rica international does now have a work permit, and it has been suggested that he could be included in Arsenal’s first-team next season after some eye-catching displays in Greece this season, including a fine solo effort against Manchester United in the Champions League.
However, he could also be loaned out again as Arsene Wenger looks to hand him some experience of playing regularly in English football, and Stoke appear to be the leading candidates to bring him in. Potters manager Mark Hughes is keen to add some attacking players to his squad this summer as he could be set to lose loan signing Oussama Assaidi as he returns to parent club Liverpool. We’re not sure what the plan is for Campbell yet, a Gunners insider explained. “I’ve heard that Stoke are interested in taking him on loan and I imagine we’d be open to that. “
