Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lewis Holtby will stay at the club next season after returning from his loan spell with Fulham. [football] direct news has learnt that the German star will not be seeking a move away from the club this summer and will stay to fight for his place now Tim Sherwood has left the club. The 23-year-old was unable to prevent Fulham being relegated after joining up with the west London side in January in order to boost his World Cup hopes by playing more regularly. Holtby, who was rumoured to have a bust-up with the Cottagers boss Felix Magath after being accused of not pulling his weight, hardly seemed troubled by the pain of relegation while playing in Ledley King’s testimonial match at White Hart Lane last night. Holtby joked around and even chopped down referee Howard Webb in a light hearted exchange that saw the referee push the player to the ground in return. Holtby only joined Spurs in January 2013 and has gone on to make 24 appearances for the club, scoring twice. Read more Fulham transfer news.
