Tottenham Hotspur’s chance of signing Aaron Hunt on a free transfer have ended after the German midfielder signed with Wolfsburg. Hunt, who has a German father and English mother, completed his 10th senior season with Bundesliga side Werder Bremen earlier this month before leaving on a free transfer. And, his future looked destined to be in England with both Spurs and Stoke City credited with interest, whilst offers from Turkish club Besiktas had also surfaced. Bremen were desperate to keep hold of the German midfielder but their failed negotiations, that are said to have started in January, has seen him now move to fellow Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. Hunt’s move to Wolfsburg sees the likes of Spurs and Stoke fall short, signing a three-year deal which will see him stay until 2017, when he will be 30 years of age. The 27-year-old has made three caps for the German national side but missed out on their World Cup provisional squad.
