Tottenham Hotspur are set to offer a contract to Malaga star Eliseu with the Portuguese international’s contract set to expire this summer,  FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The north Londoners have experienced problems in the left-back position this season with first-choice Danny Rose suffering a long lay-off earlier in the campaign and Kyle Naughton looking uncomfortable on his weaker side.
Meanwhile, the regular left-back in the last few seasons, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, looks to have fallen out of favour at the club. The Cameroonian has spent the current season on loan at Queens Park Rangers and sees his future away from Spurs. Eliseu started his career as a left-midfielder but has become an established figure of the Malaga team in defence. The 30-year old was being tracked by former Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas and club scouts have watched him perform this season on more than one occasion. With Malaga in financial trouble and his contract running out at the end of the season, it is looking increasingly unlikely that the Spanish club will offer the player a new deal, something that has tempted Spurs to offer Eliseu a new home. Eliseu was a key part of the Malaga side that reached last year’s Champions League quarter-finals under Manuel Pellegrini.
