Tottenham are reportedly looking at a summer move for Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay, who is a long-time target of Manchester United. Garay has long been linked with a move to Man United with the Manchester club believed to be keen on signing the Argentine international, and especially now that Nemanja Vidic has confirmed he will be leaving in the summer for Inter. According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, scouts from Spurs were in attendance at Benfica’s league game with Rio Ave at the weekend, having been impressed by the 27-year-old in their Europa League last-16 tie, in which he scored in the second leg in Lisbon. The reports cites that Spurs could be preparing for life without Jan Vertonghen, who could seek a summer exit in search of Champions League football next season, although the north London club would be expected to meet Garay’s 16.5 million buy-out clause should they wish to sign the defender.
