Tottenham will be forced to look elsewhere this summer after apparently missing out on the signing of Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez. Spurs have been linked with a move for the Mexican, with many reports, particularly in the British press, claiming that the north London club were favourites to sign Hernandez this summer. After a disappointing debut season in the Premier League for Roberto Soldado, with Emmanuel Adebayor ending the campaign alongside young forward Harry Kane as Spurs’ most prolific strikers, a new forward or two is expected to arrive at White Hart Lane this summer. Along with Southampton and England striker Jay Rodriguez, who has also been linked with a move to Spurs, Hernandez is believed to have been a target, however, according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have won the race for the Man United striker. The news will likely see Spurs up their efforts in bringing in Rodriguez, particularly after announcing the appointing of Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino as the club’s new head coach on a five-year deal yesterday.
