Tottenham Hotspur face a battle to land managerial target Sinisa Mihajlovic with Lazio in advanced talks to bring him back to the club he used to play for. The Sampdoria manager has caught the attention after taking the club from the Serie A relegation zone to mid-table comfort after replacing Delio Rossi. And while the club made it clear they want to keep him, the former Serbia manager has failed to commit his future. According to Mediaset Sampdoria have already approached Stefano Pioli to replace Mihajlovic following Spurs’ bid to take the in-demand boss to White Hart Lane. But Il Tempo reports that Mihajlovic, who spent six years with the Rome club as a player, is now in advanced talks with Lazio after he was at the club last night to mark the 40-year anniversary of the club’s first Scudetto. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy sacked Tim Sherwood today and is looking at all options to replace the former academy coach with Frank de Boer the favourite to take over.
