With the Gunners’ first-choice right-back admitting that his time at the club has come to an end, Arsene Wenger is in pursuit of a replacement. Among Wenger’s preferred choices to vacate the position was Spanish international right-back Juanfran who has had another impressive season with Atletico. The former Real Madrid man has been a consistent figure in Atletico’s incredible season which saw them win the Spanish league title and reach the Champions League final. However, the 29-year-old is said to have rejected the chance to join Arsenal , making it the second time he has turned the Gunners down after another offer last summer, according to AS. Juanfran is enjoying his time in the Spanish capital and signed an extension to his deal last year which sees him tied down to the club until June 2017. The full-back has been selected by Vicente del Bosque for Spain’s provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup and is expected to make the final 23 when the squad is announced on 2 June.
