Valencia general manager Francisco Rufete has admitted that a number of clubs are interested in signing the club’s talented left-back Juan Bernat.
The 21-year-old has been of Valencia’s top performers this season and has attracted the interest of Manchester United as well as several other Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Everton. Rufete has revealed that plenty of clubs have been keeping an eye on the Spaniard due to his performances but is adamant that the club does not want to let go of an important player. “We want him to be here for a long time, he is a homegrown player and very important for us. We want him to be here a long time but also we know that many clubs are looking at him because he is performing at a high level,” he told Calcionapoli24. Among the clubs pursuing the youngster are Rafael Benitez’s Napoli who are known to be in the market for a new left-back in the coming transfer window. Bernat’s contract is set to expire in June 2015 and the club will have to decide whether they will sell him this summer or risk losing him on a free transfer the following campaign.
