Southampton may have the edge over Arsenal as they target Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Saints are on the market for new additions upfront this summer as they look to improve their squad for next season, and it is the likely departure of Italian international Pablo Osvaldo that has made a new striker a priority for Mauricio Pochettino.
The club-record signing, who only joined from Roma last summer, is currently on loan in Turin for the second half of this campaign, and it is believed that the Italian giants are pushing for a permanent move when his loan spell finishes. Southampton may now be ready to offer Osvaldo a permanent move to Juventus in a bid to land Vucinic in return, with the Montenegro international also looking like a player who could be available in the upcoming transfer window.
The 30-year-old was strongly linked with Arsenal for much of January, and the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Olympiacos are also reportedly monitoring his situation as he has struggled to establish himself as first-choice with his current club. Vucinic could make an excellent big-name signing for the ever-ambitious Saints, who also attracted big names such as Victor Wanyama and Dejan Lovren to the St Mary’s Stadium last summer.
