The race for the signature of Hamburg defender Hakan Calhanoglu is gathering pace with Spartak Moscow the latest club to show interest. Calhanoglu is wanted by Liverpool and Arsenal as well as Bayer Leverkusen as his time at Hamburg appears to be coming to an end. According to a report on Russian website Izvestia.ru, Spartak are “considering the acquisition of the 20-year-old attacking midfielder”Calhanoglu has scored 10 goals from midfield this season, but has been unable to stop Hamburg’s slide down the Bundesliga. The German club are third from bottom in the table and strong candidates for relegation. Whether Hamburg survive or not, the young midfielder is expected to leave the club with plenty of interest from around Europe.
