Roma will look to rival Manchester United for the signing of Inter Milan playmaker Ricardo Alvarez this summer, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Argentine midfielder has been one of Serie A’s most impressive performers this season, and is attracting plenty of interest as he looks likely to leave Inter at the end of the campaign, as he continues to stall on signing a new contract at the club.
This has seen United emerge as his main suitors from England, while other clubs from around Europe such as Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund have also shown an interest in recent times.
However, he could still remain in Italy as Roma now appear to have identified the 25-year-old as an ideal replacement for their own unsettled star, Miralem Pjanic.
The Bosnian has most recently been linked with a big move to Bayern Munich, and his fine performances will certainly mean he is a hard act to follow at the Stadio Olimpico, though a European football insider believes Roma would do well to bring in Alvarez to fill his boots. Roma are facing the fact that Pjanic will probably leave, a source explained. “They are targeting Alvarez from Inter, who looks like he will be available, and I think this will be a good move for them. “
