Cadena Cope claim that Real Madrid have planned a swap deal involving Asier Illarramendi moving back to Real Sociedad for Antoine Griezmann. Real Sociedad’s Antoine Griezmann was in superb form last season for the La Liga side, contributing with 16 goals and three assists. And, his consistent performances and talents have led a number of big spending European clubs to show interest with Premier League side Arsenal having made an initial bid of 18.3m last week. Whilst there is no confirmation on the outcome of that bid, it is now coming to light that Spanish giants and Champions League winners Real Madrid have trumped that offer by making a substantial bid which includes Asier Illarramendi. Illarramendi left Sociedad last summer for a move to Madrid but his time at the club has been hot and cold, battling for a starting place with Spanish international Xabi Alonso. Club president Florentino Perez released statements regarding the 24-year-old last week, saying that he believed he would remain at the club. However, it is understood that Carlo Ancelotti’s admiration for Griezmann has changed that stance.
