The Uruguayan striker has been in superb form this season for Brendan Rodgers side, contributing heavily to their strangle hold over the Premier League, scoring 30 goals in 30 games. And his performances have led to interest from La Liga duo Barcelona and Real Madrid and it is believed that the latter are ready to activate his release clause. Well known, yet controversial journalist Francois Gallardo has said on Spanish television that a deal ‘is now closed’ between the Spanish side and Liverpool but that is yet to be confirmed. However, it is understood that the Spanish capital side will activate Suarez’s clause that allows him to leave the English club for either Barca or Madrid. Suarez put pen-to-paper on a new deal earlier this season but the contract included a clause that allows him to discuss terms with La Liga’s big two at any time. It is thought that a bid in the region of 70m will be made by Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
