Real Madrid could join Manchester City in the pursuit of Bayern Munich left-back David Alaba, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Spanish giants are on the lookout for new players in that position ahead of the summer transfer window, as they face the possible departures of both Marcelo and Fabio Coentrao, who have both been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United. Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno has emerged as a top target for Real, though it has now emerged that they could look to join the running for Bayern’s Alaba, who has recently established himself as one of the best players in the world in his position. Still only 21, the Austrian international has been a key part of Bayern’s recent success, helping the club to the treble last season and to another league title this year. It seems unlikely that the Bavarian giants would look to sell such an important and promising member of their squad, but Real may be ready to offer big money to bring Alaba to the Bernabeu, as they have done with many of their ambitious targets in the past. City were also recently linked with the attack-minded full-back as they look to upgrade on their current options of Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov in that position.
