Paris Saint-Germain could look to sign David Silva from Manchester City as an alternative to Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The big-spending French club have brought in numerous marquee signings in the last few years with the backing of their wealthy Qatari owners, though they look set to face disappointment in their pursuit of Hazard.
The Belgian attacker has been one of the finest players in the Premier League this season, though Chelsea are highly reluctant to let him leave, with Jose Mourinho issuing a firm hands-off warning upon hearing of PSG’s interest.
This could now see the Ligue 1 champions switch their attention to Silva, who has been another of the Premier League’s finest playmakers for the last few seasons.
The 28-year-old has five goals and eight assists in all competitions this season, and could be a perfect fit for PSG as they also face the possible departures of the likes of Javier Pastore and Marco Verratti from their midfield options. A City source confirmed that the French giants were eyeing up a move for Silva, saying: “I think they’re looking at a few players in a similar sort of style to Hazard. We’ll see if they make an offer (for Silva), but I can’t imagine the club would let him go. “
