Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing prolific Watford striker Troy Deeney, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The 25-year-old has shown himself to be one of the most reliable and accurate goalscorers in the Championship in recent years, scoring 54 times in the last three seasons in total. Deeney and Watford narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season after losing to Palace in the play-off final, and the Hornets have missed out again this year after failing to make the top six in the Championship.
This will likely see a number of Premier League clubs come in for Deeney, with Palace and West Brom currently understood to be leading the chase for his signature as they eye new signings upfront.
Tony Pulis’ side have performed well recently, but look in need of a more reliable finisher than last summer’s signing Marouane Chamakh, and Deeney is one of the names on their list, according to a club insider. West Brom sources also confirmed that the club have been keeping tabs on the talented front-man, with the Baggies still in need of quality replacements for last season’s loan star Romelu Lukaku.
