Paul Lambert’s odds of leaving Aston Villa have dramatically shortened following the suspensions of Ian Culverhouse and Gary Karsa. Both assistant manager Culverhouse and head of football operations Karsa have been suspended pending an internal investigation, with reserve team coach Gordon Cowans and goalkeeper Shay Given promoted to Lambert’s coaching staff. Given had been isolated by Lambert and had spent part of the season on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough after losing his place to Brad Guzan last season. The move has resulted in speculation over Lambert’s future, with Villa still yet to confirm their Premier League status for next summer, and odds with bookmakers for the Scot to become the latest managerial casualty have tumbled. From being as high as 20/1, Lambert is now priced at 3/1 witha number of bookmakers to be the next Premier League boss to lose his job following the latest developments at Villa Park.
