The German goalkeeper fielded a number of questions from reporters and was even asked about Chelsea loanee Thibaut Courtois, who was among the candidates to join Bara prior to ter Stegen’s signature. The former Borussia Monchengladbach star admits that Courtois has had a superb campaign but preferred to speak about what he could provide for his new team.“I know he has had a great season but I have my style and I am confident in my qualities to show them to Bara and win titles,” he told reporters. The 22-year-old cost Bara around 10million and is set to be the club’s new number one after Valdes made it clear in January last year that he would be leaving for a new adventure. Ter Stegen was also asked about the keeper he would be replacing, and stated: “He is an extraordinary keeper who has done a lot for the club, he has won many titles for Bara but I am myself, I know what my job is,” he concluded.
