Napoli are set to make a summer bid for Tottenham Hotspur defender Younes Kaboul, [football] direct news understands. The Italian side are looking for defensive recruits this summer and are keen on bringing in French defender Kaboul. According to an [FDN] source, Napoli boss Rafa Benitez is ready for a battle and will “try to prise him out of Tottenham”. The French defender reportedly already has an offer on the table proposing a three year deal at Serie A rivals Fiorentina and is interesting several other clubs. The 28-year-old French defender will make a decision in the coming weeks as he weighs up his future in north London. Kaboul’s is out of contract at White Hart Lane at the end of the season and has been attracting interest from various clubs, including North London rivals Arsenal. Kaboul has been plying his trade in England since 2007, when he joined Tottenham from Auxerre. He played two seasons at Portsmouth before returning to Tottenham to work under then-manager Harry Redknapp.
