Roberto Martinez would like to make Gerard Deulofeu’s loan deal from FC Barcelona permanent but wants to respect the player’s parent club. Martinez took over from David Moyes at Everton last summer and has surpassed most people’s pre-season expectations, with the Merseysiders currently in fifth place and pushing for a Champions League spot. The Spaniard has shown astute judgment in the transfer market by bringing in the likes of Gareth Barry and Romelu Lukaku on loan deals as well as young Deulofeu from Barcelona who has shone at Goodison Park. However, despite admitting that he would love to keep Deulofeu at the club, Martinez says he must respect Barcelona.“We don’t know if the loan will be extended. Out of respect for Bara, we cannot speak of any player’s future who is not ours. He will always have a home at Everton and he can return if he wants,” he told Catalonia’s Tot Gira. Deulofeu has played in 22 Premier League matches, with most of them appearing from the bench. The 20-year-old has scored three goals and provided four assists.
