Manchester United boss David Moyes will do all he can to make Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala an Old Trafford player this summer, [football] direct news understands. The French defender has been in superb form this season and has gathered interest from a number of big-money European clubs, including the likes of Paris Saint Germain, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Man City. However, following Porto’s Europa League second-leg with Sevilla, Man United are set to battle with the aforementioned for the 23-year-old’s signature. Mangala did not have the greatest of games against Sevilla as his side lost 4-1 on the night to bow out of the competition but his goal in the first leg, matched with consistency and experience with the French national side has made United show interest. Born in France, Mangala began his pro-career with Belgian side Standard Liege, before arriving in Portugal in 2011 and he has quickly establised himself as a key player both for Porto and his national side. His current deal expires in 2016 and he is reported to hold a release clause of 38m.
