Manchester United boss David Moyes is ready to take on Chelsea in the race to sign Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana. The Southampton midfielder has burst on to the scene this season after producing some superb performances under boss Mauricio Pochettino and he has gained plaudits from a number of top European clubs. Lallana, who began his career with the Saints has made over 250 senior appearances and at 25-years-old is one of England’s brightest talents. That has led the likes of Chelsea and Man United to show interest, with the former understood to have made contact with Southampton last week about a summer move. However, [FDN] understands that United boss David Moyes will not simply allow the Blues to sign the England international. Moyes is prepared to offer Lallana a bumber contract and pay big to Southampton as he looks to rebuild his squad at Old Trafford. Lallana has also been likened to former United midfielder Paul Scholes, someone who United fans feel has never been replaced at the club.
