Chelsea have made Juventus striker Carlos Tevez their main summer transfer target, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Argentina international has scored 15 goals in 34 appearances for the Turin giants since leaving Manchester City in a 12million deal at the end of last season. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is anxious to add at least one new striker to his squad when the transfer window reopens and a source close to Stamford Bridge told FDN that Tevez’s Premier League experience and work ethic impress the Portugese.
The table-topping Blues are aware that Serie A champions Juve will hold out for significantly more money than they paid for his services last year, and Chelsea are willing to put a big bid on the table to lure the 30-year-old to west London.
He played a major role in City’s title triumph two years ago and also stood out during spells with West Ham United and Manchester United. With Tevez almost certain to be left out of the Argentina squad for the World Cup in Brazil, Chelsea officials are confident of pushing through a deal early on in the summer.
