Monaco could rival Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of Parma forward Antonio Cassano, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The 31-year-old has recently emerged as something of a surprise target for Spurs going into the next transfer window, with the club’s Technical Director Franco Baldini a big fan of the former Roma ace. Cassano has also played for Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter Milan in something of a nomadic career, in which he is widely viewed as having underachieved due to attitude problems.
However, the Italian has enjoyed a highly productive season this year since signing for Parma in the summer, and could now be set for a recall to his country’s national side for this summer’s World Cup.

Monaco, managed by Italian coach Claudio Ranieri, are also thought to be keen on snapping him up, and could tempt the skillfull attacker with a big-money move to Ligue 1 this summer. A European football expert believes Cassano may favour a stay in Serie A, though the money on offer at Monaco and the chance of one final big move in his career may be too tempting to turn down.
