Lionel Messi is apparently delighted by the appointment of Luis Enrique as new Barcelona coach, according to the club’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu. Former Barca player Enrique was confirmed as the new coach of the club earlier in the week, succeeding former boss Gerardo Martino. Enrique only took over at Celta Vigo at the beginning of last season and led the club to a ninth place finish. However, the Barca hierarchy saw fit to offer him the coaching role at the Nou Camp after they suffered an indifferent season under Martino.Plenty of speculation surrounded the future of Argentine forward Messi with mega-rich Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain both reported to be putting together big-money moves. However, the arrival of Enrique has gone down well with Messi, according to Bartomeu who said in Sport.es: “Messi is very happy and is happy to stay with our club.”He added: “Messi is delighted with Luis Enrique.”There are big changes expected at Barca this summer as Enrique is charged with improving on-field performances.
