Manchester United are expected to name Louis van Gaal as the new manager in the next few hours, sources at Old Trafford told [football] direct news.
United veteran Ryan Giggs, who was interim manager towards the end of the season following the sacking of David Moyes, was seen in the Netherlands today heading to meet the country’s national coach, van Gaal.
Giggs is understood to have been offered a coaching role at the club by van Gaal should the Dutchman be offered the manager’s role.
Sources at Old Trafford told [football] direct news] that talks have “gone well” and that United are waiting on a report from Giggs before making the decision public.
“Talks have progressed as well as we could have liked,” said a source. “Provided United are happy with what they hear, it should just be a case of offer and acceptance.”
