Manchester United could offer winger Nani in a straight swap for Roma’s Adem Ljajic, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Red Devils are keen to make some changes in their attacking midfield options this summer, with Nani among a number of under-performers in that position, along with Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia.
The Portuguese international has been strongly linked with a move to Juventus, but it is thought that talks for him to move to Turin could be on hold as the Italian giants hope instead to seal a deal for Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez. United are still keen to offload Nani this summer, and may now try to use him as part of a deal to land one of their long-time targets Ljajic, who is also likely to be on the move this summer after a slightly disappointing first season at the Stadio Olimpico.
The 22-year-old emerged as one of Europe’s top young players whilst at previous club Fiorentina, and has still contributed six goals and five assists despite not always being a regular for Roma this season. United are expecting to appoint Louis van Gaal is their next manager in the near future, and a source close to the club understands that he would approve this potential swap deal if he is put in charge.
