Manchester United have not contacted Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio after his agent said ‘no clubs’ have made an enquiry. The Argentine defender has been in superb form this season for La Liga side Villarreal and has played an important part in their return to Spain’s top flight. And, his consistent performances have led to interest from a number of clubs across Europe, including Liverpool, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Manchester United. Whilst, the former three have been credited with interest, it is the latter two who have maintainted their interest as they seek to improve their defensive options, with United keen to replace the departing Nemanja Vidic. But, his agent, Marcelo Lombilla has said that he has received no contact from clubs for the services of the Argentina international. If it is the number one target of Fiorentina, they should not ask me. He is an important defender, but the truth is that no club has contacted me, he told Spanish daily Marca.
