Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala has revealed that Manchester City have been in discussions regarding a possible move. Mangala is one of the most highly sought-after defenders in Europe, with the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United and Man City all linked with possible moves for the France international. The 23-year-old had also been linked with Chelsea, but it is believed that the Blues are now looking elsewhere with their search for a centre-back while Man City and Man United are prepared to part with up to 30 million for Mangala’s services. With both Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand leaving Old Trafford after seeing their contracts expire, Man United are desperate to replace the pair, although they have been dealt a massive blow in terms of signing Mangala after the defender revealed that talks have been held with Man City.
However, the Porto centre-back did add that an agreement is yet to be reached between the two clubs.
My aim is the World Cup. After that, we’ll see what happens,” Mangala told beIN Sports. I’ve told my agent that I don’t want to know anything about the market before the end of the World Cup. Every player wants to develop at a big club. I have the opportunity to be at Porto, one of the big clubs in Europe. There have been discussions with Manchester City, but the clubs have not found an agreement. “
