Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho has been offered to Real Madrid by super agent Jorge Mendes, [football] direct news understands. The Portuguese international has been in superb form for Sporting Lisbon this season and has played a massive part in their impressive league campaign which has seen them split up the dominance of Porto and Benfica. Carvalho, 22, has already made two appearances for the national side and is fully expected to play and important part at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. His performances have gained interest from the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and a number of Italian sides. However, [FDN] have understood that super agent Jorge Mendes has offered the defender to La Liga giants Real Madrid a first call option. Mendes, who has dealings with a number of Real Madrid players, including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Angel di Maria and Fabio Coentrao, plans to utilise his relationship with Madrid to force a lucrative summer move. Should that option fail, Mendes will look to offer the centre-back to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, with whom he has a lucrative past.
