Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm has warned his teammate Toni Kroos to not be too hasty about leaving the club. Kroos is a target for Manchester United and Arsenal and was heavily linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena in January.

A move did not materialise for the 24-year-old attacking midfielder, however, but rumours if a summer move refuse to go away.

Kroos’ contract with Bayern expires next summer and discussions over an extension have so far stalled. The young midfielder wants to be paid on the same scale as captain Lahm and established stars like Franck Ribery and Bastian Schweinsteiger. Lahm has warned that Kroos needs to be careful when negotiating as Bayern, as current European champions, are one of the top clubs to play for. The German captain suggested that Kroos would find it hard to find a club that could offer the same levels of success that are expected at Bayern. “It is normal for him to consider his possibilities and negotiate,” Lahm told Bild. ” But if you already play for Bayern Munich, there are few alternatives, if any.

This is, in my opinion, an absolute privilege to play here because this team has a winning mentality.

Many players want to come to Bavaria, so be very careful and think before leaving such a club at this moment. “
