The Basque midfielder is linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer due to his inspirational performances at the heart of the Athletic Bilbao midfield. Iturraspe helped his side to a fourth place finish and thus a place in next year’s Champions League for Athletic’s first appearance in the competition since 1997. The 25-year-old defensive midfielder is yet to make a senior appearance for the Spanish national team and had not been earmarked for a call from Vicente del Bosque. According to Basque publication Deia, Iturraspe has impressed scouts of the Manchester club and are considering a summer bid but they will face competition from Real Madrid who are also interested. Also on the holders’ 30-man list was United duo Juan Mata, who was also in the squad for South Africa 2010, and David de Gea who has represented Spain at youth level but is uncapped for the full-team.
