FootballDirectNews.com understands that Robin van Persie is closer to a summer exit after learning of interest from La Liga giants Barcelona.
The Catalan side are toying with the idea of making a summer move for Van Persie as they seek to find a ‘Plan B’ type striker. And, [FDN] learnt earlier this week that Tata Martino’s side have been buoyed by the recent off-field talk of a poor relationship between Van Persie and United boss David Moyes.
The Dutch forward joined United in 2012 and helped them to a Premier League title last season but a miserable season under Moyes has seen many calling for a summer rebuild. Should that happen, it is understood that Van Persie could be free to leave and he is thought to be extremely interested in the chance to play in La Liga with Barcelona. Van Persie has been linked with Barcelona whilst playing for Arsenal and [FDN] reported earlier this week that the La Liga side are keen to use him as they did – Thierry Henry, in a similar role which offers a back-up to Neymar and Lionel Messi.
