Manchester United’s expected new boss Louis van Gaal has indicated five players he would like to sign this summer, [football] direct news understands. United vice-chairman Ed Woodward is expected to hand Van Gaal a bumper transfer kitty upon his arrival, despite losing a reported 30m due to their poor performance in the Premier League. Southampton full-back Luke Shaw is understood not to be one of those, although he is fully expected to sign for United this summer. Instead, Van Gaal wants fellow Dutchman Kevin Strootman to arrive from Roma, Bayern Munich double act Arjen Robben and Thomas Mulller, Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen and Dortmund’s Mats Hummels.
