Roma defender Mehdi Benatia has told Sky Sport Italia that he is happy in Italy, despite interest from Manchester United and Barcelona. The 27-year-old centre back has been in superb form this season for Roma and is one of the many reasons why the Italian capital club have maintained the best defence in Europe, conceding just 19 goals in 35 league games. His consistency and impressive performances have seen him become one of the most exciting and trustworthy defenders in Europe and numerous big-spending clubs have taken notice. Manchester United and Barcelona, two clubs seemingly struggling in the defensive area this season have both made initial moves to sign the defender but he has spoken about his happiness in Italy. Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Benatia said: “I do not want to leave Roma, but the management and the sporting director will decide. If there are some economic problems, I would do what is the best for the club, otherwise I would like to stay.
