Manchester United will face competition from Chelsea to bring in German international defender Mats Hummels as both clubs look to fill the void left by departures. Van Gaal has drawn up a shopping list of players he wants at the club next season with Hummels a priority to replace Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, while Blues boss Jose Mourinho needs cover as David Luiz prepares for life at Paris Saint Germain. The 25-year-old is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer with Juventus and Barcelona also keen. According to a report in Bild, Italian champions Juventus are considering making a move for the player as they look to strengthen their Champions League prospects next season. Juve have just sealed a third consecutive Serie A title but struggled in Europe this season. United, though, believe the appointment of Van Gaal will put them in pole position as they look to rebuild with a 200m war chest.
